Barbell squats - The very best exercise to strength and tone the quadriceps muscles of the thighs.

Maintain a strong back throughout
What you need for barbell squats:
  • A barbell and squat rack
  • A weight-lifting belt

how to do it
  • Stand in the squat rack in your gym underneath a moderately weighted barbell
  • Position the bar across the fleshy part of your shoulders / upper back. Place your feet shoulder width apart
  • Take the weight of the bar. Keeping your back flat, slowly sit back until your thighs are parallel with the ground
  • Without pausing drive your feet into the ground and stand up into the start position. Pause and repeat
