Shiatsu

Very similar in principle to acupuncture, Shiatsu but without the use of needles. Instead 'finger pressure', which is what the word shiatsu means in Japanese, is used to unblock trapped energy in the body. As a holistic therapy, shiatsu was first practiced in China two thousand years ago.

It was further developed in Japan using the same principles that all of us contain a life force that flows around our body. This energy can become trapped or unbalanced and this is the principle cause of illness or suffering. The causes of this lack of harmony in the body can be physical, emotional or spiritual. By putting pressure on key points along our energy lines, practitioners are able to restore balance and the flow of energy, otherwise known as 'chi', in your body.

What are the benefits?
This treatment is far more than simple massage. True it is deeply relaxing and pleasant but it also serves the purpose of boosting your natural immune system.

It's not aimed at specific conditions but rather on improving your overall health and vitality. The application of pressure can remove blockages that cause pain and discomfort. By helping you to truly relax, it can put you in touch with your inner being and release you from chronic fatigue and stress.

It allows you to discover your own healing powers and improves the circulation of blood, hormones and the lymphatic system. When used in conjunction with other treatments, it can be a powerful tool in fighting illness as well as physical and emotional exhaustion.
