Cellulite treatment

Is there really a cellulite treatment that can get rid of cellulite wherever it occurs on your body? If there's one thing that many women would like, it's knowing what cellulite treatment offers a reduction in that lumpy bumpy orange peel skin that develops around the bum and thighs.

If finding the right cellulite treatment is an issue for you, then below we have pulled together some basic information on how to get rid of celulite and what cellulite treatments may be best for offering a lengthy reduction in the orange peel look.

To understand how this is possible, it's important to get a little background information first. Cellulite is a series of ripples of fat cells and subcutaneous connective tissue under the skin, usually found on the thighs and butt of women.

Experts are unclear on either the exact causes of cellulite, or the best methods of cellulite treatment and reduction - some believe it is caused by problems in the fat cells, while others blame toxins in the system are responsible for cellulite.

Contrary to popular belief, being overweight does not cause cellulite in and of itself. Indeed, some slim people have cellulite. However, there is a clear association between excess fat and cellulite, as the enlarged fat cells put pressure on connective tissue which affects the skin's smoothness and tautness.

So what can you do about it? There is no miracle cure, and commercial treatments range from expensive creams and lotions through to extreme solutions such as liposuction. However, a common sense approach would focus on the following:

  • Maintain a healthy weight. If you are overweight, be sure that you lose weight gradually.

  • Don't smoke.

  • Avoid unnecessary medication, such as diet-pills, pep-pills, sleeping pills, laxatives and diuretics.

  • Eat a diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables.

  • Reduce your intake of coffee, alcohol, and junk foods.

  • Drink lots of water - the oft quoted '8 glasses a day' should be your minimum.

  • Follow a programme of regular exercise.

  • Experiment with a good quality aloe vera cream in the unsightly areas.
