Dieting motivation

One of the first rules of any regime, diets are no different : What is your dieting motivation? With our simple advice and dieting channel, hopefully you will bve able to define that easily and so get to the root of the problem.

Do you know whether your motivation to diet comes from a positive source? It's important to examine your motivations and take some dieting advice, especially considering that the source of your decision to start a weightloss plan has a great deal to do with how safely you will approach it.

Some people take dieting motivations as simply being the will to lose weight - whilst not technically incorrect, there should be more to it than that.

As a result of our fast paced lifestyles it's easy to fall into the trap of making food choices based on convenience rather than nutritional value. By making the decision to diet, you improve your general health in the immediate, while also offsetting more dangerous health concerns down the line, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, clogged arteries, heart disease, heart attack, colon cancer, and stroke.

Another reason is to improve their own body image. This is also a positive impulse provided it's approached in a realistic manner, with the approval of your physician. A negative body image can hold people back from living the life they want to live. Improving body image can result in an increase in confidence which in turn improves quality of life.

Sometimes people feel pressure to slim to fit in socially. This often stems from low self-esteem and can lead to an eating disorder mentality. When you set your goal outside of yourself by saying "I want to look like her", you create an unrealistic and unfulfilling goal that sets you up for a cycle of failure. You can never look like someone else, and as you realize this you will become frustrated instead of celebrating the weighloss and health benefits you notice. You will be more likely to give up all together.

Always direct your goals towards yourself. You will find you value the progress you make, and be more likely to make lifestyle changes that will encourage success into the future.
