Plyometrics tests

What are plyometrics? They refer to explosive movements designed to increase an athlete's explosive power - for example the punch of a boxer, or the jump of a basketball player.

Tests that tap into plyometrics include measures of elastic strength, such as the Sergeant Jump Test, or the Margaria Kalamen Power Test, which involves leaping up a flight of stairs. Improvements in assessments such as these are a good measure of an athlete's readiness for competition.
