What it does?

The 'plank' is a traditional postural exercise used in circuit training, aerobics classes and lots of exercise facilities around the world. Great for strengthening the core muscles

What you need?

An exercise mat

How do you do it?

- Lie on your front on an exercise mat
- Get into a press-up position resting on your forearms
- Lift your bum up slightly for good posture
- Hold this position, for 30-45 seconds
- Lower yourself back down to the floor and rest for 20-30 seconds
- Repeat 2 more times for 30-45 seconds

Key Points

- Control the hold with your abdominal muscles
- Hold for 45-60 seconds to increase the difficulty
- Prevent your bum from dropping to avoid injuring your back
