Acne treatments

How much do you know about acne treatments? Most people will suffer from a facial skin outbreak at some point so acne cures will range from over the counter products or alternative methods.

Whether the acne treatment is required for small occurrences on new born infants, through to coming of age zits, acne cures are there to be used. But what is it and how can you recognize it? Which types are common place and which should cause concern with regards to acne treatments?

Acne is an inflammatory skin condition that results in puss filled eruptions. These eruptions can be singular and isolated, or can occur in patches, occasionally causing skin to become raised oily and bumpy in texture.

Spots are most frequently found in particular areas, including on the forehead, chin, and nose as well as on the back, upper arms and shoulders. However, in severe cases, eruptions may appear anywhere on the body, including the cheeks, neck, chest, legs and arms and also along the hairline or on the scalp.

These eruptions usually come in three forms, whiteheads, blackheads, and cysts. Whiteheads are raised bumps with a white milky surface or point. They tend to be small, but can grow larger or become cysts if infected.

Blackheads are essentially clogged pores, with the opening of the pore showing black or brown in colour. They are usually flat, but can occasionally be raised.

Cysts are infections deep within the skin, and show as large, raised, often painful swellings. Though unsightly and embarrassing, for most people, this is a treatable and transient condition.
