Puma sportswear

The German company Puma was founded in the 1920s by the Dassler brothers. They have since gone on to become one of the world's leading sports shoe and clothing manufacturers.

Puma have long been associated with the Olympics and Olympic athletes, including American hero Jesse Owens who won four Gold medals wearing Dassler shoes.

In the late 1940s Puma began to concentrate on football boots, developing the first football boots with screw-in studs.

What they offer :

Puma is now largely associated with football, although they do also make products for other sports. Their list of footballers they have sponsored is virtually a who's who of great players:

  • Pelé
  • Eusébio
  • Johan Cruyff
  • Diego Maradona
  • Kenny Dalglish
  • Didier Deschamps
  • Gianluigi Buffon

They are also the sponsors of Jamaica track athlete Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, and in America are known for basketball shoes, and their sponsorship of NFL legend, Joe Namath.

Are the products good?

The link between fashion and sports is so well established these days that it is sometimes hard to focus on whether a company's products are actually any good.

However, this is a company that has always strived to be at the forefront of technical innovations, and their association with legends in fields such as football and athletics suggests that their goods are capable of competing at the very highest level.

Summary:

One of Europe's oldest sporting goods company, they continue to provide a range of cutting edge designs.
