The right previous work experience can help in finding a job in this field. Employers look favourably on experience in customer service, nursing, or the hotel and catering trades.

All airlines provide in-house training for new employees; this typically runs from four to six weeks. Topics covered will include:
  • Security, safety and emergency procedures
  • First aid
  • Customs and immigration regulations

  • Currency exchange
  • Galley management

Once you are working, you will be required to undertake regular examinations to ensure that your knowledge of safety and emergency procedures is current, and that statutory first aid requirements are being met.
