Upright rows using barbell


Upright row wih barbell - This exercise is a great shoulder and back strengthener.

Using dumbbells may target the shoulders slightly more than the back
 
What you need for Upright row :
  • A barbell
  • A weight-lifting belt

how to do it
  • Grasp a moderately weighted barbell slightly less than shoulder width
     
  • Tighten your shoulders but relax your arms. Begin to pull the weight up until it rests just below your chin
     
  • Pause briefly (aim to really contract the shoulders at this point). Slowly lower the bar back to the start position
     
  • Without pausing, attempt the next repetition and repeat for the desire number of repetitions
