Russian Twist

What it does?

This exercise looks simple but requires a good level of abdominal strength and conditioning

What you need?

A medicine ball or dumbbell

How do you do it?

- Sit upright with your knees slightly bent, about shoulder width apart
- Hold a medicine ball or dumbbell out in front of you
- Start to lean back so you feel a resistance in your abs
- Slowly rotate from side to side keeping your arms and shoulders straight
- Do 3 sets of 10-12 repetitions

Key Points

- Avoid arching your back, keep your torso straight as you lean back
- Let your abdominals control the movement
