First aid kits

If you need a good first aid kit, there are two ways of going about it. The first is to figure out what you want, then go round various suppliers trying to track down the items individually.

The second is to buy a complete first aid kit from a reputable supplier. Which sounds easier? Of course you'll still want to check that it has all the things you will need, but it will certainly save you a lot of time and effort.

A comprehensive first aid kit for a sports physio needs to be kept in a bag with plenty of space to carry all your on field supplies - it should also be made from a lightweight nylon material, be shower proof and easy to clean.

Of course everyone will have their own idea of what should be included. Essential items might include:

  • Scissors
  • Gloves
  • Instant Ice Packs
  • Trainers Tape (various types/sizes)
  • Triangular Bandages
  • Sterile Gauze Swabs
  • Crepe bandages
  • Wound Wash Solution
  • Deep Freeze Spray
  • Resuscitation Face Mask
  • Emergency Foil Blanket
  • Vaseline Petroleum Jelly
  • Fabric Dressing Strip
  • Safety Pins
