Wobble board exercise advice

Using wobble board exercises may be one of the best things you can do if you've suffered a lower limb or ankle injury.

Balance work on a wobble board can help to improve your coordination, taking excessive strain off your ankles and helping you move more efficiently.

Balance work will also strengthen of the muscles in your ankles, feet and legs, which will dramatically reduce your risk of injury.

Furthermore, balance routines of this nature will improve the mobility and flexibility of your ankles and lower legs, decreasing your risk of future injuries.

But there's more - not only will these workouts reduce your injury risk, they can also improve performance. The increased strength and flexibility you'll gain will lead to more powerful push-offs and longer strides giving your performance a boost.

There are all sorts of different products on the market, each with their own hype. Some of the contenders include:

  • Plastic
  • Wooden
  • Stand or Sit discs (wobble cushions)
  • Rocker boards
  • Surfing stability discs

It is really only by trying out different product that you'll know which is the right one for you and your sporting or rehab needs.
